The allegations entail repeated acts of reprisals, arbitrary arrest and detention, enforced disappearances, and inhuman or degrading treatment in custody, of human rights defenders who have raised concerns about the mining activities and toxic contamination, in particular human rights defenders Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Mr. Sibghat Ullah Shah Jee Baloch.

Información recibida en relación con las violaciones de derechos humanos de las comunas de Quintero, Puchuncaví y Concón, ubicadas en la región de Valparaíso, por los episodios de intoxicación masiva por contaminación en los meses de septiembre y octubre de presente año, en el marco de las actividades del Complejo Industrial Ventanas, que estarían comprometiendo seriamente los derechos a la vida, a la salud y a vivir en un ambiente limpio, sano y sostenible, entre otros. Esta situación fue abordad durante la visita oficial a Chile realizada por la Relatoría Especial sobre el derecho humano a un ambiente limpio, saludable y sostenible en 2023, cuyo informe A/HRC/55/43 fue presentado al Consejo de Derechos Humanos en 2024.

Information received concerning the alleged abduction in Malaysia of Ms. Thu Zar Maung, a pro-democracy activist and refugee from Myanmar, and her family members and subsequent refoulement to Myanmar. Your Excellency’s Government response, dated 27 September 2023, referred to incidences in which this individual had allegedly left prior residences without paying rent owed and stated that the investigation of her being the victim of an abduction had been closed.
