Information received concerning the recent arrest, detention, and criminal prosecution of three human rights defenders Mr. Alexei Sokolov, Ms. Larisa Zakharova, and their colleague, in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk region of Russia, associated with the non-profit organization “Pravovaya Osnova” (Legal Basis), which appear to be linkedto their human rights work, namely monitoring places of detention in the Sverdlovsk region and reporting on torture and conditions of detention in the Russian penitentiary facilities.
