The application of the Anti-Terrorism Law, Protest Law, Association Law, and NGO law raise serious concerns regarding increasing practices of arbitrary detention, allegations of torture, the absence of judicial oversight and procedural safeguards, restrictions on freedom of expression, the right to freedom of thought, and the right to freedom of peaceful assembly. The effects of these laws in the Sinai region have also resulted in violations of socio-economic rights including the right to education, the right to secure housing, the right to sustainable development and the rights to food and water.
