Information received concerning ongoing excessive and lethal use of force by Iranian security forces against protesters demonstrating in response to the death of Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022, who died after she was detained by the Gasht-e-Ershad (Guidance Patrol) for allegedly not complying with Iran’s compulsory veiling laws. The information refers to a continuous crackdown on civil society by the Iranian authorities, the use of live ammunitions against protesters, sexual and gender-based violence against women, arbitrary arrests, torture, extrajudicial executions and other unlawful killings, as well as the disruption of the Internet, preventing access to and the sharing of information on the protests.
