Information received concerning the alleged escalation since June 2025 of systematic measures of repression by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Persian language news service Iran International and its personnel worldwide. In particular, we are concerned at credible threats to the physical safety and lives of 45 journalists and staff and 315 family members, across seven countries: Belgium, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Some journalists were given until the end of July 2025 to stop working for Iran International or they and named family members would face execution. With the deadline now passed, we are concerned that these threats could materialize at anytime.
