Subject: Information received concerning alleged violations of the rights of Indigenous Peoples in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Bangladesh. The allegations concern land grabbing and violations of the Mro Peoples’s rights to food, water, health, a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, and cultural rights and affecting disproportionally women and children. The violations are linked to the construction of a hotel by Sikder Group conglomerate company R&R Holdings Limited, together with the 24th Division and 69th Brigade of the Bangladesh Army and the Army Welfare Trust. The project is taking place on Mro ancestral land in Chimbuk, Bandarban district.
