Information received concerning a proposed amendment to the Act of 7January 1993 on Family-Planning, Human Embryo Protection and Conditions of Legal Pregnancy Termination, which would further restrict the already limited access to abortion in Poland. If adopted, the proposed amendment would repeal point (2) of article 4(a)(1) of the above-mentioned Act and would consequently prohibit the termination of pregnancy in case of foetal impairments despite the fact that, according to information received, the majority of terminations of pregnancy in Poland (96% in 2016) are carried out on the grounds of severe or fatal foetal impairments.
